As usual, it has been an extremely busy start to the 2017/18 academic year at St John Fisher for PE and Sport. Since September we have again been delighted to work with Manchester City in the Community, Manchester Giants, Progressive Sports to provide all children from Reception to Year 6 access to various sports clubs running before and after school.
Our PE lessons have again been very enjoyable and exciting to be involved in. We have covered various topics ranging from Dance to Gymnastics to Games.
We also have entered lots of competitions! We reached the Tameside finals at Tag Rugby and finished in 4th in Tameside Hockey finals. We have seen great improvement from our Year 5/6 boys, Year 5/6 girls and Year 3/4 girls Football teams which has even resulted in a trophy or two! Furthermore we have had great success at x-country. Our 5/6 boys and 3/4 girls finished third, our 5/6 girls finished second and the 3/4 boys teams were crowned champions of Tameside! We have also attend Futsal and Kurling competitions as well as multi sports festivals.
In other news we have formed strong links with Haughton Green Junior Football Club and Denton Golf Club and received a special visit from Olympic Bronze Medallist Kelly Massey. We had 10 children represent school being mascots for Manchester Giants at their recent fixture with London Lions. Finally our fantastic new Sport & Health ambassadors went on their training held by Tameside School Sports Partnership and Olympian Craig Heap.
Hopefully our next term is just as successful!
