Pope Francis said, ” Children are a gift. Each one is unique and unrepeatable, and at the same time unmistakeably linked to his her roots.”
In today’s Gospel reading (Mark 9:30-37) Jesus said to his disciples, ” Anyone who welcomes one of these little children in my name, welcomes me; and anyone who welcomes me, welcomes not me but the one who sent me.”
With this in mind, our guitarists who sometimes play at the 9:30 a.m. Mass, Martin and Maria Higgins, invited children to bring along a percussion instrument so that they could accompany them during the recessional hymn, When the Saints Come Marching In. Mrs. Cullen provided percussion instruments for those children who had none. The children’s efforts were greatly appreciated by the congregation with a very warm round of applause.
