To help prepare for Christmas, Year One children helped decorate our class Christmas tree. Before they could place a bauble on the tree they each had to write a prayer asking God to look after someone close to them over the Christmas period.
We were very lucky at St John Fisher to have a visit from Olympic Bronze Medalist, Kelly Massey. She spoke to all the children about her healthy lifestyle, her training programme and her time at the Rio Olympics in 2016.
This afternoon, a special delivery arrived at the office. Mrs Kay brought the delivery down to class and inside was an.... elf! Year 2 really enjoyed learning about the Mexican tradition of the Day of the Dead. Dia de Muertos!
We watched a video that helped us learn more about it. Then we made these wonderful masks before going into the disco!
We had lots of fun looking at the properties of materials. The challenge was to make the tallest tower using only spaghetti and marshmallows. The winning team worked really well together, as that week Mr Bardsley's word of the week was Teamwork!
The spaghetti is hard, breakable and thin.
The marshmallow is soft, sticky and stretchy.
